Here is the list of Medicare provider/supplier specialty codes you can use as a reference during the enrollment process.
New physician specialty codes C7, C8, and C9
Effective date: October 1, 2017
Summary
Medicare physician specialty codes describe the specific/unique types of medicine that physicians (and certain other suppliers) practice. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) uses specialty codes for programmatic and claims processing purposes. Physicians self-designate their Medicare physician specialty on the Medicare enrollment application.
Change request (CR) 9957 establishes the following new physician specialty codes:
C7 - Advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology
C8 - Medical toxicology
C9 - Hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy
